Can someone tell me whether there is a difference between "dump sb" and "dump on sb"?
I heard that "dump on sb" means "criticise" or "give sb a lot of work" It might as well have a whole lot of different meanings, which I probably never heard of. .. Can y'all help me .......please

Kudos on the southern drawl you've developed by saying "y'all." ;D It took me a few years of living here in the South before I could say it convincingly.
Regarding the word "dump":
I could dump my girlfriend (stop seeing her romantically). My boss could dump me (fire me) if we lost business. A team could dump its worst player (tell him/her to leave). I can dump the water from the bucket (pour it out as quickly as possible) on Smigus Dingus.
A trash collector carries waste to the dump (landfill). A euphemism for defecation is "taking a dump." A broken down house or apartment might be referred to as a dump. At the Air Force base, I visited the ammo dump (where ammunition is stored).
I may dump work on my employees (implying that I drop a hefty amount all at once). I may dump on my best friend (telling them all my personal troubles all at one time). I may dump on my President when speaking with friends by constantly criticizing (or criticising) his or her actions.
Lots of different uses, but the implication behind the verb "dump" seems to be that one always unloads a good deal quickly with little regard for where it falls. Hope this helps.
