Who would you like to see as a new President of the United States? Why? What do you think about the war in Iraq and the presence of Polish troops in this country?

Who would you like to see as a new President of the United States? Why? Gee.. Politics is a filthy business. Prepare to use soap frequently. And too much soap is bad for your skin Uh, and since you asked... it's tough choice.... One worse than the other and I won't dive into that subject. I'd prefer Clinton. That's my 2cents just in case we wanted to stay on-topic. Actually we would better talk about birds or something -- at least we could learn some interesting vocabulary, names of birds etc. Everybody knows pigeons, eagles, crows, maybe falcons. How about the rest?

Thank you Jedrzej for your answer! This place is created to talk about politics and other events that are currently taking place. I'd like to know the names of birds too, . Who will help us?

This place is created to talk about politics and other events that are currently taking place. ok, Kasia, so forget my joke about soap ;-) And to be still on-topic, check out that webpage: a.parsons.edu/~jk/thesis/which is made by a guy who designed a computer-controlled bicycle accessory to print anti-Bush banners on the road while riding. He also made another website dovoted to this: www.bikesagainstbush.com
And about birds -- there are two more I know: - A magpie -- this is a cute, long-tailed bird, all black, but with white feathers on both sides. Magpies are said to steal shiny things :-) There is also a painting by
Peter Breughel which you might know -- "Magpie on the gallows"
- A vulture -- large bird with very recognizable white feathers on the neck, which are sometimes referred to as "collar". Vultures fly high. In fact they glide.
And they feed on dead or rotting bodies of animals.
who's next with interesting names?

Thank you Jedrzej for your reply and for the links As far as the birds are concerned I propose: TIT or TITMOUSE= any of numerous small widely distributed insectivorous oscine birds (family Paridae and especially genus Parus) that are related to the chickadees and have small bills and relatively long tails. If you want to know more names of birds - check www.birds.com Greetings

Whether you're pro-Bush or pro-Kerry, at least know why and be able to explain yourself. I don't think Bush is the greatest president America had, but Kerry won't definitely be it, either. What America needs right now is stay on the course, despite the mistakes that were made. Kerry carries the threat of turning things upside down to the point, where nobody will know what is going on any more.

In Poland, you are exposed to all of the international mistakes that the Bush Administration has made: invasion of Iraq, summary rejection of the Kyoto Protocol, flipflopping on steel import policy, and unilateral rejection of nuclear arms treaties. You likely know that his father wrote in 1994 that invasion of Iraq would lead to the quagmire it has become.
However, you are likely unaware of Bush domestic policies that aim to erode American society: rejection of funding for scientific research while delaying policy decisions until further research is done, dismantling of environmental protection laws, efforts to divide our society through Constitutional Amendments, removal of education funding, dropping civil liberties, additional security demands on states without funding, change from the largest Federal surplus to the largest Federal deficit in history, protection of the profits at health care and pharmaceutical companies, and the renewal of trickle down economics policy which was proven ineffective in the 1980s.
The campaign speeches of the Bush Administration are based on fear-mongering, a strategy that was most effectively used during the 1950s and 1960s when Americans feared the Communist menace. This strategy relies on threatening Americans to vote for a candidate or risk their lives. The quality of that life is no longer important.
