Could somebody tell me what the political orientations of the most popular American newspapers are? Thank you very much for help... Ken, can you clear it up?

This is a very difficult question for me to answer, and it is often the subject of news articles here in the USA. On a slow news day, programs will air that speak about the liberal or the conservative bent of American media. The simple answer is that any individual news media carries the bent that will give it the highest sales. Since Americans split evenly on many issues, there is room for considerable profit on either side. I've often heard politicians complain about the liberal bent of the newspapers, and I've heard many activists complain about the conservative leanings of the television and radio news. Many Americans tune into radio pundits (e.g., Rush Limbaugh) to sthingy feed them opinions, but a younger disgruntled population relies on Jon Stewart's Daily Show, a daily comedy that pokes at politicians of both bents. Unfortunately, the Daily Show is how many people get their news. I could not find any definitive surveys on the internet about which media (TV, papers, magazines, internet, or radio) most Americans get their news through. If you want to see the spin about liberal media that is presented by a known very conservative group, read www.mediaresearch.org/SpecialReports/2004/report063004_p1.asp. Note that this report cites most reporters as liberals but also cites that there was no agreement that there is any single liberal news outlet. However, the Fox News Channel (mentioned prominently in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911) was noted to be a prime source of conservative news. At www.americanassembler.com/issues/media/media.html you'll find one analysis showing how certain popular television news programs actually provide misinformation. Last week an important news story here in the U.S. covered the propaganda that the U.S. government is actually producing; they are taping video footage as news broadcasts and distributing to the news media for broadcast with no indication that the U.S. government is behind the broadcast and not an independent media. I hope this introduces you to how complicated the issue is. I could discuss it further on this forum, but it's time to let some others weigh in.
